Wednesday Jul 10, 2019
Wednesday Jul 10, 2019
DCOCD is the DC Comics EVENT PODCAST where we discuss, contextualise and rank every single DC event in order starting with 1985's Crisis on Infinite Earths up to... we're not sure yet.
DC continued on the rocky road to Final Crisis with a 7 issue side event of the pre-event to 2008’s main event. Anyway it’s time to look at 2007’s SALVATION RUN from Bill Willingham, Lilah Sturges, Sean Chen, Waldon Wong, Wayne Faucher, Joe Bennett, Joe Corroney, Neal Adams (variant cover), Steve Wands, Ken Lopez, John Kalisz, Thomas Chu and Joey Cavalieri.
See what happens when the villains of the DC universe get exiled to a planet that is engineered to kill them. Will the Joker kill Lex Luthor (ah, no)? Paul is joined by Sean Ross and Diabolu Frank to do hard time and plan an escape.

The last traces of HixPox continue to ravage our hosts, but that hasn’t stopped us from crawling back into the studio for a new episode.
This week we are in the gap between seasons of the Doom Patrol TV show, so enjoy a spoiler-free News Patrol segment (technically News-free too).
Then we spend some quality time with legendary comic creator RON RANDALL as he shares about his experience as co-penciller on Doom Patrol volume 5. He also tells us about his latest creator-owned TREKKER: BATTLEFIELDS Kickstarter campaign.
LET’S GET TREKKING AND PATROLLING!

Episode 144: JLMay 2019 - Blackest Night!
Thursday May 30, 2019
Thursday May 30, 2019
The dead are rising…but it is your fairly sick and unhealthy hosts, OR, is it the terrifying arrival of the Black Lanterns?!? Well, actually, a little of both. The podcasting event JLMay is back, and this time the subject is the epic crossover event from 2009, Blackest Night! In a weird coincidence, neither Mike nor Paul (moreso Paul, when this was recorded) were feeling particularly healthy as they discussed the Doom Patrol tie-in issues to this event.
But enough about those 2 sickos! If you’d like to hear more about the DC Universe taking on these undead Lanterns, make sure to visit The Podcast of Oa and tune in to episode 138 for background info on the event - and then visit these fine podcasts for the rest of the story!

Waiting for Doom was created in late 2014 after 2 obsessive Doom Patrol fans realised (possibly incorrectly) that the world needed more discussion regarding their all time favourite superhero team. Specifically, from the two of them. Egos, am I right? Some helpful starting points for you:
Mike lives in Brisbane, and has had an on-again, off-again love affair with comics for 95% of his life. Paul lives in Laggan and tempers his encyclopedic knowledge of comics creators, and DC Comics in general, with biting sarcasm. Both of them fear the arrival of the Beardhunter, given their combined facial hair. Waiting For Doom would also not be possible without the support of our fellow Doom Bros: Jeames aka Rifty who provides technical support; and Doug Zawisza, who provides additional Doom Patrol history and commentary both here and on his own site, mygreatestadventure80.blogspot.com . Mike and Paul have the reluctant support of WilFreD, the sentient show Twitter account which gained self-awareness in early 2015. WilFreD lurks around this site so be careful of participating in inflammatory anti-AI sentiments lest we all suffer his wrath. |
